Welcome to Cave Hill Farms Brewery, which has been in our family since 1759. This 6th generation farm was granted to the Hopkins family by King George II of England in 1759. This land grant, which was written onto a sheepskin deed, gave the Hopkins family rights to farm over 1,000 acres of land. Since this point the farm has grown and shrunk and now sits at 359 acres.

This farm has been home to many different crops and livestock throughout the years. Between 1960 and 2008, Cave Hill Farms was home to more than 500 dairy cattle, a large poultry population, and many hundreds of acres variable cropland. The “Loafing Shed” is where these cattle would be held until they were sent into the dairy milking parlor. In this shed these cattle would be feed, watered, and pampered to increase the yield of milk. Because of this, we decided to put the brewery tasting room in this building as we aim to please every guest in the same fashion.

The farm has a very diverse history through its life of 180 some years. It has grown just about every crop variety that is known in our growing region and produced all livestock varieties including sheep, hogs, goats, dairy cows, beef cows, turkeys, laying chickens, broiler chickens, and turkey breeder hens. As you can tell this farm has produced just about every type of animal or produce that you can imagine due to changing demands and keeping up with modern trends.

The 4 main ingredients of beer are hops, barley, water, and yeast. We grow our own barley, hops, and pull water from a family well that has been in our family for generations. This water is known for its rich vitamins and crisp taste.

Our slogan is “Old Ways, New Days.” This is due to our lengthy history and sticking to original ingredients just like our ancestors once did. Cave Hill Farms Brewery prides itself for sticking to the basics, and doing so, creating some of the most diverse, unique, and flavorful brews that you have ever tasted. We try to embody the historic legacy of Cave Hill Farms in every glass.

So, Walt Gator Hopkins here, the owner-creator, designer, and engineer, welcoming you to the Cave Hill Farms Brewery, Bed and Breakfast, Pumpkin Patch, and Stables.
